Please, Hold Me Accountable

One of the things I have done quite thoroughly over the past few months is completely re-evaluate how I parent my children and really determine where my priorities lie.  To that end, while I was away from home back in April for the Empowered to Connect conference (and thus able to hear my own thoughts for more than five seconds at a time), I found myself writing out my own personal mission statement.  I posted that mission statement in my home this afternoon and am also posting it here for each of you to read along with the list of tasks I know I must also commit to in order to faithfully complete the mission itself.  I do not do this out of some sort of prideful look-at-me effort, but with the deepest, most sincere desire that each person who reads the words I have written will prayerfully and lovingly support me, encourage me and challenge me to continually renew my commitment to my purpose.  I cannot do this alone.  I need all the help I can get.  So, today I come to you in prayer, humbly asking that as my brothers and sisters in Christ – PLEASE, HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE.

See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.   Hebrews 3:12-14

With the help of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I will use the time, talents and resources the Lord has provided me with to raise the five children He has entrusted me with to love, trust and serve Him by living as an example of His love, mercy and grace while keeping myself connected to other members of His family and the sound of His voice through regular prayer, worship, service and Bible study.

To make this possible...

*I will seek help when I need it.

*I will offer aid to those in need.

*I will admit my limitations and accept assistance when others offer.

*I will surround myself with others of faith and establish and sustain a solid team of prayer warriors.

*I will use my past and current circumstances to help others in theirs.

*I will learn from my mistakes and find other ways.

*I will look forward with hope and look back without regret.

*I will support my children in their hurts, struggles and daily lives while helping them create healthy dreams of their futures.

*I will trust in the Lord with all my heart, mind, soul and strength and stand firm on His promises.

*I will press on for the prize no matter how many times I fall or how much help I need to get back up.

*I will refuse to feel sorry for myself or worry about what I cannot control.

*I will set the bar and be the example for our home to be physically, emotionally and spiritually safe; firm and founded on the joy of the Lord.

*I will distinguish between wants and needs and trust the Lord to provide what we cannot live without.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!
